Helping Us Keep Nursery Safe, Inclusive and Calm
To help us provide a safe, calm, and enjoyable environment for all children, we kindly ask parents and carers to support us with the following guidance:
-
Toys from home
While we understand that children may wish to bring favourite items, toys from home can sometimes become lost or cause upset. Please speak to your child’s key person if a comfort item is needed.
Comfort items such as a small soft toy or blanket for sleep time are welcome where appropriate. -
Food items
Please do not bring sweets, nuts, or other food items into nursery. This helps us manage allergies safely and follow our nursery food and nutrition policies. -
Medication
Only prescribed medication should be brought into nursery. All medication must be clearly labelled with the child’s name by the doctor or pharmacist, provided in its original packaging, and handed directly to the Nursery Manager or Deputy so the required medication form can be completed before administration. -
Footwear
For health and safety reasons, children should wear secure, closed-toe footwear suitable for active play. Open-front shoes, flip-flops, or loose footwear can increase the risk of trips and injuries. Where footwear is worn for religious or cultural reasons, this will be discussed with parents and risk assessed to ensure children’s safety. -
Jewellery
For safety reasons, we kindly ask that children do not wear jewellery to nursery, including dangly earrings, necklaces, or bracelets, as these may pose a risk during play. Small stud earrings are permitted. Where jewellery or items are worn for religious or cultural reasons, we work in partnership with parents to carry out an individual risk assessment and agree on safe arrangements that prioritise the child’s wellbeing while respecting family beliefs.
We also kindly ask that valuable items are not brought into nursery, as we cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support in helping us keep all children safe, included, and happy at Kiddicare Nursery.
